With over 97,000 delegates from different countries attending the COP28 in Dubai to address the issue of climate change in the world, it is said to be a record-breaking event.
Massive number of attendees, Flashy Country Pavilion, a corporate-sponsored cocktail party, some believe has turned the U.N. climate summit into a trade show or circus.
Here are the countries with the highest number of delegates and their GDP size in 2023.
UAE, the host country has the highest number of delegates in attendance with 4,409 and a GDP value of $509 billion, followed by Brazil with 3,081 delegates in Dubai and a GDP size of $2.1 trillion. Nigeria and China sent 1,411 delegates each to COP28 with a GDP of $507 billion and $19.4 trillion respectively.
Other countries with at least a thousand delegates to COP28 are Indonesia, Japan and Turkey, all with a trillion GDP size.
